Auto Insurance Company Rewarding Teens

Sunday, July 17th, 2011

Auto insurance companies are always competing to win business, but MetLife had more in mind when they started their new “Teens on the Road to Safety Program”.  This program is specifically designed to encourage young drivers to make safe driving a priority.  The press release on Business Wire details how the program is expected to work.

MetLife Auto Insurance knew something needed to be done to reign in the number of accidents being caused by teenagers on the road.  One in three teenage deaths occur in car crashes and MetLife believes that can be prevented through education and awareness.  The program encourages young drivers to stay safe on the road by offering drivers who go a full year without accidents, claims or moving violations a $50 gift card from American Express.  If their commitment to safe driving continues, they can earn another $50 gift card the second year they avoid accidents, claims and moving violations.

In order to be eligible for the program, teens must complete 20 driving trips weekly with a guardian and submit a list of the trips to MetLife.  MetLife Auto Insurance has learned through research that practicing good driving skills with an experienced driver is an effective way to become safer on the road.  This will ultimately decrease the number of teen deaths on the road.  The program is available to 16 and 17 year olds who are covered under MetLife and live in a participating state.

Founders Auto Insurance Offering Great Deals

Saturday, January 22nd, 2011

Founders auto insurance is continuing to offer great auto insurance deals to their customers.  This is important to understand as the economy is at a standstill and everyone is looking for ways to save money.  The auto insurance business is very competitive, but Founders is offering up some tips to consumers to ensure they are getting great deals on coverage.

Many auto insurance companies will offer discounts for switching policies to their company.  In many cases you can use a competitors offer as leverage for a good deal with an insurer.

Consider location.  You do not have to use a local auto insurance company, and many times you will find better deals with widespread companies since they have more to offer and a variety of options.  It’s true that where you live impacts auto insurance rates to consider this as you shop around.

Believe it or not, new cars are often cheaper to insure.  If you are considering buying a new car take this into consideration as you shop around.  Many people think rates will increase with the new car, but this isn’t usually the case.  One stop shopping is almost always beneficial.  If you have multiple insurance products with one company you may see huge discounts which will ultimately save you a lot of money.

Auto Insurance Companies

Sunday, June 20th, 2010

According to the article “Auto Insurance Industry Improving…Will Rates Decrease?” by Brad Ricahrds posted on WorldBreakingNews.com, the auto insurance industry has reported slight growth over their 2009 results.  They are hopeful this means the industry is making an upward turn for the long haul and will result in lower auto insurance rates over time.

During tough times many drivers cut back to the most basic auto insurance coverage possible to save money.  Some carry no coverage at all.  As the economy picks up again, consumers start upgrading their insurance protection which is good news for auto insurance companies.  Many are hoping that this recovery will cause auto insurance rates to go down.

A new bill, Proposition 17, is expected to pass and will require auto insurance companies to give discounts to car owners that have had auto insurance protection for periods of time.  It’s expected to work as a reward system for loyal customers but is could reduce overall auto insurance rates for many drivers on the road.

Auto Insurance for Seniors

Tuesday, June 8th, 2010

According to the article “Saving Money On Auto Insurance as a Senior” found on favstocks.com, there are special steps senior citizens should be taking to ensure they are getting the best auto insurance rate.

First and foremost, seniors should be shopping around to see what type of rates are out there. It doesn’t have to be hard to compare auto insurance quotes. Getting numerous quotes from various companies can ensure they are getting the best deal.  Another key is to get educated on driver discounts for seniors.  There is a 10% discount for drivers over the age of 55 who have taken a safe driving course in 35 states, including some of the top retirement states.

Seniors will also want to consider what address they are using for the auto insurance quote.  Many seniors own two homes and spend somewhat equal time in each so it can be beneficial to get quotes at both addresses and see what state has the best deal.  You will have to consider where you are registered to drive though and you must be upfront about how much time you spend in each location to ensure the auto insurance company has the most accurate information.

Progressive Auto Insurance: MyRate Discount

Sunday, May 2nd, 2010

In these tough times, drivers are looking for any type of discount they can on their auto insurance rates.  Progressive Auto Insurance is happy to offer discounts whenever they can and their MyRate Discount program proves this.

Progressive’s MyRate discount offers savings based on how much, how, and when they drive their car.  With the newest version of MyRate, now offered with Minnesota auto insurance, customers can start saving in as little as 30 days, up to 30%.  Progressive now gets data for only 6 months to determine a customer’s auto insurance rate.  Once drivers sign up for the MyRate program they plug in a small device into their auto that measures their driving data.  After about 30 days they can let the customer know if they qualify for a discount.

Some examples of scenarios that will offer lower rates are business travelers who park their cars at the airport numerous days per week, families with an extra car they rarely drive, or safe drivers who rarely slam on the brakes.  Progressive may occasionally check in with MyRate customers to get another snapshot of driving habits to ensure nothing has changed, but if the safe driving habits continue so do the great discounts.

Using Rewards Offered From Your Auto Insurance Company

Monday, March 15th, 2010

Many companies such as credit cards, and grocery stores offer perks and discounts to their customers and you may be surprised to know that auto insurance companies are among them.  So many consumers either are unaware of the perks or do not take the time to take advantage of the perks, and that’s a shame because you can save a lot of money.

Some auto insurance companies offer discounts on dozens of major retailers just for being a customer.  Companies that sell flowers and movie tickets can give you lower prices just because of the auto insurance company that you use.

Credit card companies offer great discounts and rewards as well.  One trick is to use your credit card to pay your auto insurance bill if you are able to pay it in full each month.  This earns you a chunk of points to use at your favorite retailer, or to simply get cash in your pocket.  Most auto insurance companies accept credit cards including Eastwood Insurance and Infinity Auto Insurance.

So, take the time to check with your various companies and see how much you can save and where.  You may be surprised how much you have been missing by not having all the information.

Some Tips to Save on Auto Insurance Quotes

Saturday, February 27th, 2010

In today’s economy more and more people are interested in saving money in unlikely places.  Many people don’t realize that it can be easy to save on your auto insurance quotes.  The article “Eight Tips for Saving on Your Car Insurance Rates” by Steve Cypher on autocreditexpress.com highlights the top 8 ways to save.

The first and easiest is to shop around and compare auto insurance.  This may seem obvious, but many don’t realize that they are paying too much for their auto insurance so don’t bother shopping around.  Another tip is to combine your policies for possible discounts.  Repair your credit before you shop around to get a lower quote.

Be sure to check and see if any professional associations you are part of earn you discounts.  AARP, certain university alums, and military groups are just a few examples.  Students often earn discounts as do certain cars and low mileage.  Another way to earn discounts that many don’t realize is to go paperless with your bill and payment options.

Discounts on Auto Insurance Quotes

Sunday, January 31st, 2010

There are many unknown auto insurance discounts that consumers should be aware of.  The article “Little-Known Auto Insurance Discounts” found on savingadvice.com highlights some of the discounts.

Being a full time student can help you get lower auto insurance quotes.  Not only can being a student help you, but if you carry good grades, usually a B or higher, that can earn you further discounts.  Some auto insurance companies offer discounts for federal employees, members of the military, or members of various groups like AAA.

Discounts are sometimes offered to those who have the VIN number on their car window.  How you pay your bills can affect your auto insurance quote and so does where you live.  Driving less and having safer cars all can warrant you discounts on your auto insurance.  These are just a few of the variables taken into consideration when quotes are determined, but you do have control over them so it’s important to understand what factors are being considered.
